Las protectoras en Texas se han visto gravemente afectadas por las tormentas de nieve que han dejado a miles de personas -y también a las propias protectoras- sin agua y electricidad en muchos casos: organizaciones de protección animal se han movilizado por todo EEUU para intentar ayudar a los animales y trasladarlos a otras zonas del país.
Texas aún lucha por recuperar la normalidad tras los devastadores efectos de la peor nevada sufrida hasta la fecha en este Estado.
Para ayudar a las protectoras de Texas afectadas por la crisis climática, la ASPCA (Sociedad Estadounidense para la Prevención de la Crueldad contra los Animales) y Wings of Rescue han organizado el transporte urgente de más de 170 perros y gatos por tierra y aire a otras protectoras y refugios donde puedan estar seguros.

Today in total we flew 142 dogs and 26 cats from stricken Texas shelters to safety and soon new homes while delivering 2,500 pounds of humanitarian aid. #LetTheFurFly! When disaster strikes, Wings of Rescue is there! Wings of Rescue, in partnership with the ASPCA and Humane Society of North Texas, is in Denton, Texas from where we are flying our first North Texas flight of the day with 83 pets who were formerly at-risk in Texas shelters that were struck by horrific winter storms this past week. We will be flying to our friends at the Brandywine Valley SPCA in Georgetown,Delaware and St. Hubert’s in Morristown,New Jersey! Obviamente no son los únicos: Big Dog Ranch Rescue también organizó una "misión de rescate", salieron ayer, domingo, con todas las donaciones que habían recibido para ayudar a los animales que están pasando frío en Texas, con la intención de traer de vuelta a algunos animales a su refugio.
Otras grandes protectoras, como Austin Pets Alive, llevan días trabajando sin parar para poder socorrer a los refugios o perreras más pequeñas.
En sus instalaciones sí hay generadores y por tanto los perros y gatos pueden estar a salvo así que ellos -en función de los huecos que tienen cuando algunos canes van a casas de acogida- organizan transportes hasta su refugio también.
Y han logrado que perros como Rex, que estaba en una perrera, pueda tener una nueva oportunidad y no sea sacrificado:
